Makeup Tips: Date Night Look

Date night is the occasion to break out of your usual routine and crank up the romance. Here are some secrets to get the best flirty makeup looks

SOMETHING IS SMOKING

Smoky eyes are by definition dramatic. The classic smoky eye is darkest around the lids and at the outer corners of the eyes while the lids are kept light. And take word for it, when executing this at home, start with your eye makeup and then move on to everything else.

FRESH AND CLEAN

Well done makeup doesn’t have to indicate pounds of product—especially if you’re aesthetic and fall on the no-makeup makeup side of the spectrum. Attain this look by skillfully grooming your brows with a good gel, a precise line of black liquid liner on the upper lids, a lengthening and defining mascara, and finally, the most perfect muted pink-nude lipstick color.

LIP LOCKED

This is what makeup artists like to call “a nighttime lip.” And while sporting it in the bedroom might result in a mess-and-a-half, it’s the perfect provocative hue to slick on before a date.

Prep your lips with a pencil matching a bold lip colour—outlining and filling in the mouth to ensure the dark pigment does slip around throughout the night.

LIGHTS ON

Who needs candlelight when you’ve got highlighting powder? With just a bit of shading at the outer corner of your eyes, mascara, and the teensiest bit of sculpting under your cheekbones, you can keep the rest light. Have a touch of silver shadow all along your tear ducts, and a pearly highlighter on your cheekbones and down the bridge of your nose.

HONEY CARAMEL

For those of us lucky enough to have a warm complexion, a makeup look done completely in caramel and toffee tones is the definition of sexy. Cover you lids in a shimmery warm taupe hue and go heavy on the black eyeliner and apply mascara with abandon. Sprinkle a golden bronze tint along your cheeks, and pick a glitter-free gloss or sheer lipstick in the bronze/caramel/toffee family

RED ROMANCE

Red lipstick is the quintessential romantic makeup staple. Clean skin and very little blush, a casual hairstyle, and a cherry shade that has just the right amount of shine to make lips look lush and fuller.

LUXE LIDS

Colors like amethyst, emerald, and sapphire are still dark but are not as heavy as black or gray. They are lighter and more romantic-looking. Which is why you should certainly give it a shot the next time you have a dinner date. The trick is to deepen the color along the lashes, which you can do by creating with a matching pencil liner.
